Spelling

Since I am on several internet “groups” I’d like to clarify some common spelling issues. The ones that get by the spell check and make you look like you are new to the English language (and due to the nature of the world wide web, you quite possibly are).

First off: ‘to’, ‘too’ and ‘two’

  • I am going to the store.
  • I am going too. {‘too’ replaces ‘also’}
  • There are two stores. {‘two’ replaces ‘2’}

Then: “there”, “their” and “they’re”

  • I saw something over there.
  • I’m going to their party. {refers to a person, place or thing}
  • I don’t think they’re home. {replaces “they are”}

“know” and “no”

  • I know who you are. {implies understanding}
  • I can no longer understand you. {denotes a negative}

Well, that’s a start anyway. Hope this helps!
